Description: This program includes overnight accommodation at the Diana Monkey Lodge in Gola South next to the Sileti substation and includes guided nature walks in and around the Diana Monkey Habituation Zone. The nature walks are led by Gola’s knowledgeable community guides, who will point out medicinal plants, signs of primates and a variety of bird species. Your guide will also you on a short night walk to view nocturnal insects and other animals that inhabit the rainforest. Four meals prepared by community cooks are included. This tour is the best suited for those interested in an overnight experience that does not involve camping and is most convenient for those travelling to/from Liberia.
9:30 Depart from the park headquarters in Kenema for Gola South, located 75km south of Kenama, approximately 3.5-4 hours by private car. (It is possible to depart from the Liberia border and meet your guides at the Sileti substation to start your tour. To do so, please contact the GRNP headquarters in advance for details.)
13:00 Lunch at the Diana Monkey Lodge.
14:00 Walk the 1.3 km Diana Monkey Trail through an area that has been designated as a habituation zone in order to help researchers study this rare species of primate.
16:00 Relax at the guesthouse or spend more time walking the Diana Monkey Trail or nearby road, which is also good for seeing primates and birds.
19:00 Have a local meal prepared by community cooks.
20:00 After dinner, take a guided night walk into the rainforest and discover its many nocturnal creatures. Or, relax at the guesthouse.
21:00 Return from night walk. Retire
9:00 Depart for the 7.7 km Sileti Nature Trail walk to the Mahoi River. Village guides will describe various medicinal plants along the way and help you search for signs of primates and other wildlife.
13:00 Lunch at the substation.
14:00 Return to Kenema (4 hours) or go on to Bo (5.5 hours), Freetown (9 hours) or the Liberia border (2 hours) depending on your travel plans.

Day 1 - Dinner: Spaghetti with vegetables, popcorn with salt, tea
Day 2 - Breakfast: bread and 2 boiled eggs, Nescafe with powdered milk and sugar, banana/fruit (1)
Day 2 - Lunch (in the village): Rice with groundnut paste and vegetables & fish (or more vegetables), groundnuts (1 bag)
